About the Writer
I still feel a little funny saying it, but it’s true. I’m a writer. I wrote my first story “Mr. Dog and the Mean Monsters” at the tender age of five, and I spent the early years of my career helping young people tell their own stories as a writing teacher. Today, I’m a copywriter and podcaster anchored along the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, and I’m back to making up monster stories inspired by local scenes in my free time.
What makes the Crystal Coast such an enticing anchorage?

Upcoming Events for Local Word Lovers
Writing with Autumn helped me bring out new creative ideas. She knows how to tap into what moves a person and leads with a genuine spirit, communicating consistent encouragement.
Autumn is very knowledgeable about the craft and process of storytelling and always gives great feedback. She’s passionate about literature and loves helping others become the best writers they can.
Writing with Autumn was one of the most powerful experiences I’ve had. Not only did I learn about the craft of creative writing, but she gave me the confidence and tools I needed to believe I could write something worth reading.
CARTERET WRITERS
Good writing thrives in the company of good writers, and in my role on the Carteret Writers board, I’ve had an opportunity to spend time with some of the best writers in the county. In addition to hosting the occasional workshop, I developed Golden Lines, our first digital magazine, to promote the organization and the brilliant writing of our members.

The Other Blog
Not The EPIC Blog or the copywriting blog or the blog about Perilous and Sparks or the blog at Carteret Writers. This is The Other Blog, where I talk about the strange things that mystify, surprise, and delight me. It can get weird.

PERILOUS & SPARKS
In the third Perilous & Sparks novel Two to Tangier, an uneasy alliance of Aquarian Age gurus and mystics are on the hunt for an enigmatic artifact reputed to give power to whomever holds it. Will the girls beat them to the prize, or will they have a bad trip on the notorious Hippie Trail? Find out in 2024. In the meantime, catch up with Les Stone Cold Killers and The Kowloon Jukebox, the first two books in the campy Cold War series.
How do readers describe Perilous & Sparks?
Fearless
This book is everything the blurb promises — a campy, cloak-and-dagger story in which the crack team of Perilous and Sparks combat the evil Omega Foundation and locate a dangerous weapon that could destroy the planet. The author has created captivating characters — including two amazingly fierce, fearless, and stylish female secret agents — she writes incredible action scenes, and her descriptions of France will make you want to book your next holiday there. I had so much fun reading this book and can’t wait for the next one in the series. James Bond — watch out, the girls are in town!
Thrilling
What a clever fantastic story. It’s got sassy strong female leads, super spies with gadgets, high fashion, action, and murder. What more could you ask for? I seriously can’t wait for the next one! All the fun quirky characters were a blast to read about. Sparks and Bette are definitely my two personal favourites of them all. A.Ware’s descriptions wove a detailed scene for her thrilling tale to take place. It was truly wonderful how easily I could close my eyes and be in Paris whizzing around on a Vespa.
AWARE COPYWRITING SERVICES
I launched my copywriting business in 2013 to prove a point. My husband Jack believed I could earn a living as a writer; I believed he was nuts. A decade later, I have to admit defeat in this one argument.
